Bandelier National Monument

Let me begin by apologizing for the number of photos I'm posting today. I try to keep my blog posts quick, so that my friends and family don't have to dedicate large portions of time just to keep up with us. Let me also say, that in spite of that, we're going to have to go back and take more pics, because we ran out of battery and some really cool stuff isn't in here.

We went to Bandelier National Monument and explored ancient indian cave/pueblo (Tsankawi, home of the Ancestral Tewa Pueblo people) dwellings and ruins of their village. This is the first of three ladders we encountered on the 1.5 mile hike.

Rocky was particularly nervous about the ladders.

This is at the top of a mesa.

We actually somehow missed the first sign on the trail and did the whole hike backwards from the way intended. I'm pretty sure it didn't really matter, though.

This was not actually a dwelling. But the kids wanted to check it out anyway.

Here's a picture of a cave dwelling from the inside.

This is a ladder that the original people carved into the stone.

There was a little cave/landing at the top where Rocky was hiding.

This cave was connected to a couple of other caves through small holes. Here is Fiona peeking through this hole into the main cave.
