Day hike in New Mexico

We're trying to settle into our new surroundings. What better way than to take a hike? We walked past the elementary school that is behind our house and across the street is a trailhead. All through Los Alamos are canyons. It's like having cool campgrounds right in the middle of your town.

In this picture the kids are pretending to be either monkeys or cavemen. It's hard to follow their thinking.

Gary took the lead along the trail to make sure that it was safe.

The kids wanted to explore every rock for lizards. We saw a few.

The boys making themselves comfortable in a small cave.

Brigham was the first to scramble into the little cave. He was imagining what it would be like to spend the night in one.
